Terms of use

1. Who can use Shutter

You must be 16 or older. By creating an account you confirm this. If you are under 16, do not use Shutter; if we learn an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete it and its data.

2. Safety first

• Never use Shutter while driving. Late posts are allowed and count.
• A shutter can arrive during class, work, practice or at night. You never need to post right away. Use your phone's Focus mode to sleep.
• Follow your school's rules about phones.

3. What you can post

Post only photos you take in the moment with the app. Do not post:

• Nudity or sexual content of anyone, ever
• Bullying, harassment, threats, or hate
• Violence, self-harm encouragement, or illegal activity
• Photos of people who clearly don't want to be photographed, or private spaces like bathrooms and locker rooms
• Anything that impersonates someone else

We screen images, review reports within 24 hours, and may remove content, suspend, or delete accounts that break these rules. Content involving the sexual exploitation of minors is reported to NCMEC.

4. Your content

You own your photos. You give us permission to store them and show them to the friends you choose, only as the app describes, so we can run Shutter. This permission ends when the photo is deleted.

5. Memories and deletion

Your private Memories are kept until you delete them or delete your account. You can save any memory to your device at any time. When you delete a photo or your account, we delete the photo files from our storage.

6. How Shutter is paid for

Shutter is free, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. It's paid for by local businesses that run clearly labeled sponsored posts in the feed (see Sponsors below). We never sell your data or use it to target ads.

7. Streaks and scoreboards

Streaks and school scores can't be bought, restored, or transferred. Sponsors never affect scores. We may correct scores affected by bugs or abuse.

8. Sponsors

Sponsored placements are always labeled. Sponsors do not receive your personal information.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account in Settings at any time. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.

10. Other

Shutter is an independent app and is not affiliated with BeReal or any other photo app. Shutter is not affiliated with any school. The service is provided as is, to the extent allowed by law. See also our Privacy policy. Contact: masonngo70@gmail.com.
